CHARLOTTE, N.C. – The Converse College field hockey team was dealt a 6-0 loss at the hands of Queens (N.C.) on Sunday afternoon at Bessant Field. The Royals scored three times in the first quarter and three more in the fourth to secure the win.

HOW IT HAPPENED
After half of the first quarter went by with no score, Queens was able to break through in the 8th minute with a goal from Millie Eaton-Jones, giving the Royals an early lead. However, that opened the scoring for the home team as they quickly ballooned the lead to 3-0 following back-to-back goals from Jenna Lloyd in the 10th and 12th minute.
The Valkyries defense stepped up in the second quarter, not allowing Queens to add anything to the lead, but went into the locker room trailing by the 3-0 score.
Quarter number three mirrored the second as each defense was stellar. Queens posted a handful of shots on goal, but Jacqueline Wadsley was able to keep the ball out of the back of the box.
Queens padded its lead in a three-goal fourth quarter as Jill Herman scored twice and Hanna Nechay tacked on a goal with under a minute to play, giving QU the 6-0 win.
Converse and Queens will complete the home-and-home on Thursday, October 10 as the Royals visit Vikings Field in Spartanburg. That contest is scheduled to begin at 7:30 p.m.
