HOW IT HAPPENED
Set One
The opening set was very competitive as Limestone held a slim 11-8 lead early on. A Jasmine Finley kill sparked a 4-0 run by Converse to give the Vals the lead. From that point the two teams traded the next 12 points, but Limestone seized control of the set with a crucial 8-2 run down the stretch, taking a 1-0 match lead after winning set one 25-20.
Set Two
Limestone built a 13-4 lead early in set two, forcing Converse back on its heels. That advantage quickly ballooned to 21-7. However, Converse made a bit of a push after taking four in a row, trimming the deficit to 21-11.
Unfortunately, it was too little, too late as Limestone took four of the final seven points of the set, earning a commanding 2-0 match lead.
Set Three
Once again it was Limestone that came out strong in the third set, building a double-digit lead (16-6) in the pivotal frame. An Elizabeth Coffey kill trimmed the lead to single digits, but that was as close as the match would be as Limestone completed the sweep after taking set three, 25-12.
