Hot Hitting Too Much to Handle for Valkyries

SPARTANBURG, S.C.-  Converse could not contain the hot hitting Trojans on Friday night falling 3-1 (15-25, 18-25, 25-23, 20-25) despite a match high 15 kills by Scottie Kay Auton.  Mount Olive improves to 5-11 on the season and 2-4 in league play.  Converse drops its seventh straight match and falls to 5-11 on the season and remains winless in Conference Carolinas play at 0-4.

Converse picked up its lone set win in the third set winning 25-23.  The Valkyries led the attack the whole set jumping out to a 6-3 lead after a Krislyn Moore (Spartanburg, S.C.) kill.  Mount Olive went on a run closing the gap to 12-11 before one of Scottie Kay Auton's (Gaffney, S.C.) kills made it 13-11.  Auton had five kills in set three alone.  The Trojans tied things at 22-all late in the set and again at 23-all.  A Trojan service error and a Candace Clack (MacClenny, Fla.) kill gave the Valkyries the 25-23 victory.

Converse hit .059, .051, .278, and .154 respectively throughout the match.  SKA led the Valkyries with 15 kills and a .333 hitting percentage (15-5-33).  Samantha Haynes (Chesnee, S.C.) tallied 11 kills, while Clack put down 10.

Moore finished the night with a double-double dishing out 34 assists and 11 digs.  Conference Carolinas leader in digs, Aubrey Crosby (Spartanburg, S.C.) had 15 digs on the night.

Mount Olive's defense was out on full attack tonight racking up 11.5 team blocks with 19 assisted blocks.

Converse will be back out on the court tomorrow as they square off with another league foe in Barton.  First serve is at 2 pm.
