Frost Becomes Conference Champion In Pole Vault; Valkyries Finish Fourth Overall

FINAL RESULTS

CENTRAL, S.C. – The Converse College outdoor track and field team placed 4th overall during the 2019 Conference Carolinas Track and Field Championships on April 26-27. The two-day event was hosted by Southern Wesleyan University.

Kristin Frost became the first conference champion in the pole vault event after clearing a height of 3.45m. Teammate Hannah Asselin collected eight points in the same event, placing just behind Frost with a clearance of 3.15m. Asselin's performance earned her all-conference in the pole vault.

Serenity Hunt was named to the all-conference team in the long jump following a school record jump of 5.68m, good enough for second-place overall. Hunt also tallied points in the high jump with a height of 1.45m. Dominique Hill finished just ahead of Hunt in the high jump to post points for the Purple and Gold. Bessie Reid rounded out the jumps with points in the triple jump.

Daeja Belton concluded her impressive season with a third-place mark and all-conference nod in the 100h after tying a school record run of 14.57 seconds. Caroline Felkel placed 4th in the 800m race with a 3-second personal record time of 2:22.53, while Breyanna Brown placed 6th in the 400m with a personal-best time of 59.35.

During the field events Shakura Wesley gutted out points in the shot put and discus, while Hayley Disco scored valuable points in the hammer throw.
