Valkyries Continue Push to Conference Championships With Solid Performance at Western Carolina

CULLOWHEE, N.C. – The Converse College Outdoor Track and Field team established a solid meet at the Catamount Classic on April 13-14. Several new records were established as well as personal records as the Valkyries continued their push towards the Conference Carolinas Championships.

Listed below are the notable performances over the two day meet:

Serenity Hunt- New school record in the long jump and currently sits second in the conference after posting a distance of 5.52m (18' 1.5")

Shakura Wesley- New school record in the hammer throw with a toss of 39.96m (131'1")

Jordan Cooksey- Established a new school record in the javelin with 35.50m (109' 11")

Hayley Disco- posted a new personal record in the hammer throw (35.60m, 116' 9")

Nia Smith- punched her ticket to conference in the high jump after clearing a height of 1.46m (4' 9.5")

Dominique Hill- set a new personal-best in the triple jump, landing a distance of 10.95m (35' 11")

Bessie Reid- moves into 4th place on the conference list with a new PR and school record in the triple jump (11.20m, 36' 9")

Kristin Frost- new personal and school record in the pole vault with a clearance of 10' 4", while also maintaining her 2nd place position in the conference rankings

Rebecca Amedee- with a throw of 36.56m (119' 11") moves into a scoring position in the discus throw, ranking 6th overall

Dasia Sanders- lowers her school record to 14.73 in the 100m hurdles

Daeja Belton- tallied a new personal-best in the 100m hurdles with a time of 15.54

Converse will be back in action next weekend as it travels to Columbia, S.C. to take part in the University of South Carolina meet.
