Stiff Competition Awaits Converse Tennis During Spring Schedule

SPARTANBURG, S.C. – The Converse College tennis team and head coach Katie Mancebo have announced the spring contests for the 2018-19 season. The slate includes 11 games within Conference Carolinas.

Converse will begin its quest for the conference tournament on February 5, hosting Benedict College before taking a road trip to face Johnson C. Smith on February 10. Three consecutive home games ensue, beginning with Columbia (SC) on February 20, followed by Warren Wilson (2/22) and Lander (2/26).

After a quick trip to Winston-Salem State on March 1, the Valkyries will return home to face Livingstone on March 3. Conference play will open up on March 7 at Lees-McRae as the Valkyries tackle a season-long five-match road swing. A short trip down to Gaffney, S.C. on March 12 has the Vals paired up with Limestone.

Converse will then play three matches in the span of a week, beginning with Belmont Abbey on March 16, followed by Southern Wesley (3/20) and Mount Olive (3/23).

The Vals will then play five of their last six matches at home. King (Tenn.) travels to Spartanburg on March 26 before dates with Barton (4/5) and Chowan (4/6). A quick stop in Tigerville, S.C. to square off with North Greenville on April 10 will lead into back-to-back home games with Erskine (4/12) and Emmanuel (4/13) to close out the regular season.
