Rulevich Selected to Lead Valkyries Swim Program

SPARTANBURG, S.C. – Converse College Director of Athletics Jennifer Bell is pleased to announce the hiring of Morgan Rulevich as the head coach of the Valkyries swimming team.

"We are thrilled to have Morgan join our staff as our next swim coach," Bell said. "Her experience as a student-athlete at the University of North Carolina - Asheville will serve her well and we look forward to watching our ladies continue their growth from this past year under Morgan's leadership."

Rulevich joins the Purple and Gold after a brilliant four-year career at UNC-Asheville. During her time with the Bulldogs she was able to establish team records in five individual events as well as five relays. Morgan was also an ambassador outside of the pool as she was swimming's representative for the Student-Athlete Advisory Committee (SAAC) throughout her collegiate career. Rulevich also attended a Leadership Development Program with U.S. Colonel Peter Champagne in 2018.

Morgan has been the head swim coach of the River Hills Country Club in Lake Wylie, S.C. since 2015. While at RHCC she developed training and instruction programs, helping to improve swimming stroke techniques and fitness for over 100 swimmers ages 5-18.

Rulevich will join a Valkyrie swim program that will look to improve off of last year's third place finish at the Bluegrass Mountain Conference Carolinas Championships. During the four-day event Converse was able to establish 24 lifetime bests, while also breaking two school records. The Valkyries earned five relay team podiums to go along with seven individual podium finishes.

"Accepting the head coaching position at Converse College has me excited for the upcoming season," said Rulevich. "I'm thrilled to positively influence these ladies in and out of the water. I can already tell they are ready to work hard and have fun doing it. I would like to thank Jenn Bell and Jodi Strehl for this amazing opportunity. Go Valkyries!"

Rulevich graduated from UNC-Asheville in May with a Bachelor of Science in Management. She currently resides in the Asheville area.
