HOW IT HAPPENED

First Half

The majority of the first half was uneventful as neither team was able to establish any kind of offense. Converse began to put a bit of pressure on the Hawks' defense but a pair of shots early on by A.C. Albritton and Stephanie Cumez-Ortiz sailed high and left the game scoreless.

However, Chowan broke through in the 37th minute when Carolina Lucci played a ball left and placed the rock the near post to give the Hawks a 1-0 lead heading into the break.

Second Half

Once again the half started slow as the defenses held its own. Chowan was able to double its lead in the 66th minute with a Sabrina Henderson goal. The Valkyries defense stepped up in the 70th minute after a misplay by the Valkyries keeper gave CU an indirect free kick just outside of the 6-yard box. However, the Vals covered the endline and blocked the attempt.

Unfortunately, Chowan maintained possession the remainder of the match to finish it off.
