HOW IT HAPPENED

First Half

Lincoln Memorial wasted no time putting points on the board, collecting a goal on a header from Itzel Ballesteros just over a minute into the contest. The Railsplitters looked poised to double its lead in the 10th minute after a member of the front line gained a breakaway run, but Bankston made a spectacular save on the shot to preserve the one-goal deficit.

However, LMU was able to post four more goals before the end of the opening frame to take the five-goal lead into the halftime intermission.

Second Half

The majority of the second half was a defensive battle as Converse settled in and kept LMU off the attack. Aidyn Cantor tried to put the Valkyries on the board in the 72nd minute of action but her shot missed just right of the goal. Devyn Plyler also had a good look at the cage in the 78th minute, but her boot missed left.

LMU tacked on one more goal at the 83:14 mark of the period to round out all scoring and securing the 6-0 win.
