Valkyries Soccer Eager For 2018 Campaign

SPARTANBURG, S.C. – Head coach Kaitlyn Kerrigan and the Converse soccer team have announced a competitive 16-game slate for the upcoming 2018 season. The schedule consists of three contests against members from the Peach Belt Conference, one match each versus a team from the CIAA and SIAC, as well as an 11-game Conference Carolinas gauntlet.

Converse will begin the season with two of the first three games on the road. The Vals will travel to North Georgia on August 30 before making their home debut, taking the pitch against Shaw on September 4. Four days later conference play will open up as CC makes the trip to face Mount Olive.

That matchup with the Trojans leads to a season-long four-game home stand starting with Barton on September 11. Limestone (9/15), Albany State (9/22), and Erskine (9/25) will also make the trip to Spartanburg to take on the Purple and Gold at Hayden Abney Fulp Field.

The Valkyries will then hit the road for the next four games, covering three states in the heart of the season. Converse will square off against Emmanuel on September 29 prior to stepping out of conference to play UNC Pembroke (9/29). A trip to Banner Elk, N.C. has Lees-McRae waiting in the wings on October 6 before the road trip ends in Bristol, Tenn. with a pivotal Conference Carolinas match against King on October 9.

The final five games of the regular season will be alternated between home and road events, beginning with a match with Southern Wesleyan in Spartanburg on October 13. A trip to Chowan (10/17) brings the Valkyries back to their friendly confines on October 20 to take on conference foe Belmont Abbey. An out-of-conference duel with Georgia College (10/23) leads into the season finale versus North Greenville on October 27.
