Converse Soccer Helps In Winter Warmth Coat Event

SPARTANBURG, S.C. - The Converse soccer team joined First Presbyterian Church Spartanburg on Friday, November 10th to participate in their Winter Warmth Coat event. This is an event where winter coats are collected for children in need of something warm to wear throughout the winter! The process begins over the summer when local elementary and middle school counselors (from all seven Spartanburg school districts) are asked to identify their students who may need a new coat.

Along with other volunteers from the church, the girls unloaded a truck load of around 1,200 coats and carried them into the gym at FPC where they were then sorted and organized. With the help of the Converse soccer team, the coats were unloaded and organized in just over an hour, compared to the nearly five hours it has historically taken.

First Presbyterian Church Spartanburg has been facilitating this event for twenty years and over 35, 000 coats have been donated to Spartanburg children as a result.
