Converse Falls 3-0 to North Greenville In Season Finale

TIGERVILLE, S.C. – The Converse College (4-10-2, 3-7-1 CC) dropped its regular season finale to North Greenville (8-6-4, 6-4-1 CC) by the final of 3-0 on Saturday afternoon. After a scoreless first half the Crusaders tallied all three goals in the second 45 to come away with the win.

Melissa Carlyle and Claudia Coffin led the Valkyries with three shots each, while all three of Coffin's shots were on goal. Brittany Waldrep took four shots for the Crusaders and put two into the back of the net and Jayce Ward scored on her only shot of the contest.

The initial 45 minutes of action was a stalemate on offense as both teams had its share of chances but could not post anything in the scoring column. Converse tallied five shots in the opening period while North Greenville posted four.

The Crusaders finally broke through in the 59th minute when Waldrep took a pass from Asheton Robinson off a free kick and pushed it past the keeper for the 1-0 lead. Less than four minutes later Waldrep notched her second score when she put her boot on a corner kick from Karly Denaburg, making the score 2-0 in favor of NGU.

The final score of the contest came in the 73rd minute when Ward knocked one in for an unassisted goal.

Rachel Stalford dropped to 4-4 on the year after playing all 90 minutes in goal, collecting five saves and allowing three scores. Madelynn Schober picked up the win for the Crusaders, improving to 6-6-4 after saving five balls and not allowing a score.
