Valkyries Improve Play in Final Round, Finish Fourth at Anderson Invite

FINAL RESULTS

SPARTANBURG, S.C. - The Converse Golf Team finished in fourth place at the Anderson University Invitational at Cobb's Glen Country Club on Tuesday afternoon. The Valkyries cut 17 strokes off of their team score in the final round to finish with a solid 649 two-day total (+73). Anderson University took home first place after shooting a total score of 598 (+22).

Tyler Dawson led the way for the Purple and Gold shooting a +4, 76, highlighted by birdies on holes four and seven to shoot -2 on the front nine. Dawson finished in a tie for 10th place making it her 10th top-10 performance in her collegiate career. Freshman Kendel Abrams finished strong in her first collegiate tournament, shooting a 77 (+5), good enough for a tie for 12th place. 

Teammates Vienna Winalski and Grace Magera shot 79 (+7) and 84 (+12), respectively, followed by Emma Reid with a 91 (+19) to round out the scoring for the Valkyries.  

Anderson's Kate Hill took home the individual title with a score of 147 (+3). Converse will be back in action on September 24-25 as they travel to Bristol, TN to participate in the King University Invitational.
