ANDERSON, S.C. - The Converse College Golf Team kicked off their 2018-2019 season at the Anderson University Invitational on Monday held at Cobb's Glen Country Club. After an opening round score of 333 (+45), the Valkyries sit in 4th place out of nine teams.
Tyler Dawson and Kendel Abrams led the Purple and Gold with rounds of 82 (+10) to place them in a tie for 12th place. Emma Reid followed closely behind with an 84 (+12) while Vienna Winalksi added a solid 85 (+13) to the team score. Grace Magera rounded out the scoring with an 86 (+14).
Anna Parramore from Erskine College sits atop the individual leaderboard after shooting a first round 74 (+2). Anderson University is in first place as a team with a score of 305 (+17).
The Valkyries look to pick up a few strokes on the field in the second and final round of the tournament set to take place Tuesday morning at 9:00 a.m.
