Golf In Fifth After Solid Opening Round of Conference Championship

ROUND ONE

SNOW HILL, N.C. – The Converse College golf team currently sits on fifth place overall after day one of the 2018 Conference Carolinas Women's Golf Championship, firing a team total of 320 (+32) on Sunday afternoon at Cutter Creek Golf Club.

Limestone College leads the overall field with a 303 (+15), while Barton (310, +22), Erskine (313, +25), and North Greenville (317, +29) join the Saints and Valkyries in the top-5.

Tyler Dawson led the way for the Purple and Gold following a first 18, 78 (+6), good enough for an 8th-place tie overall. Grace Magera and Vienna Winalski both posted a 79 (+7) to finish the opening round in a tie for 16th. Megan Dresser (84, +12) and Marisa Daquil Kawabe (85, +13) rounded out the five golfers for Converse on the day.

Dawson led the entire field in par-5 scoring with a 4.75 average (-1), while Magera claimed the best scoring average for par-3s on the afternoon (-2, 2.50) as well as third in total birdies (3). Limestone's Victoria Ross leads the individual field after shooting 2-under (70).

Day two of the championship will resume tomorrow morning.
