Davis' Impressive Week Earns Player of the Week Honors

HIGH POINT, N.C. – Converse College forward Nigeria Davis has been named the Conference Carolinas Women's Basketball Player of the Week for games played Jan. 28 - Feb. 3, the Conference announced today. This marks the first POTW for Davis and the second overall for Converse.

Davis, a sophomore from Newberry, S.C., propelled Converse to a 3-0 road record last week, which featured a pair of Conference Carolinas wins over Lees-McRae and Southern Wesleyan. She shot 58.1 percent from the field and averaged a double-double for the week with 22 points and 14 rebounds to go along with 2.3 steals per game.

In a 74-54 win over Mars Hill, Davis netted 25 points with 15 boards and three steals for her first double-double of the week. Davis would just miss a double-double in a 70-65 win over Southern Wesleyan, as she went for 23 points and nine rebounds with three steals and one assist. Davis would close out the week by narrowly missing out on a 20-20 game, posting 18 points and 18 rebounds with one steal and one assist in a 68-60 triumph over Lees-McRae.

Davis currently averages 12.6 points, 9.6 rebounds, 1.4 steals and 1.2 assists per game. Her rebounds per game rank second in Conference Carolinas.
