#4 Saints March Past Valkyries

SPARTANBURG, S.C.- Converse struggled shooting from the floor against nationally ranked Limestone in Conference Carolinas action on Tuesday evening falling to the Saints 83-40.  Limestone improves to 21-1 on the season and remained perfect in league play at 16-0.  Converse drops to 2-16 on the season and 1-14 in conference play.

The Valkyries were led by Yashee Johnson (Columbia, S.C.) recording her first double-double of her career.  Johnson had 10 points, 11 boards and two blocks.  Eight of those boards were on the offensive glass.  Logan Hollis (Spartanburg, S.C.) led the Valkyries offensively scoring 12 points.  Hollis grabbed five boards.

Converse couldn't get anything going early going 0-8 from the floor in the first 6:19 of the game before Jakyra Washington (Durham, N.C.) picked up her only points of the night on a lay-up.  Limestone would continue to shoot the ball at will and increase its lead going on a 10-0.

Converse would shoot a season-low 10.7% (3-28) from the floor in the first half and posted 13 points.  Limestone shot 44.8% from the floor and held a 36-13 lead going into the break.

The Valkyries would fair a little better in the second half shooting 20.6% (7-34) from the floor and scored 27 points.  Converse would outrebound the Saints 45-41 as the Valkyries racked up 20 offensive boards.  Converse's defense caused the Saints to turn the ball over 18 times but handed it back to Limestone 26 times.

Converse heads on the road to face Belmont Abbey, Saturday February 7th.  Tip-off is slated for 5:30pm.
