Valkyries Fall to Non Conference Opponent Anderson

ANDERSON, S.C. – The Converse College softball team was unable to pick up a road win at Anderson University on Saturday. The Valkyries fell twice by the finals of 11-0 and 9-1.

GAME ONE: Converse 0, Anderson 11 (5 innings)

After Converse went scoreless at the top of the first, Anderson came into the bottom of the first and scored eight runs.

Hailey Spitler came in and closed the first inning and held the Trojans to one run in each the second, third, and fourth innings. The Vals were unable to bring in the two players they had on base during the game and dropped the competition in five innings.

GAME TWO: Converse 1, Anderson 9 (5 innings)

Game two started off with Converse going scoreless in the top of the first, and Anderson scoring four runs in the bottom of the first. Converse again came up scoreless at the top of the second and Anderson saw three runs in the bottom of the second.

The Valkyries saw their sole run in the top of the fifth inning with Brooklyn McElrath doubling to left center and bringing Hailey Spitler home. However, the one run wasn't enough to fend off the Trojans who scored in the bottom of the fifth and ended the game in five innings.

Converse will return to the field on Saturday, February 23, traveling to Melbourne, FL to face Columbus St. First pitch of the doubleheader is scheduled for 2:30 p.m.
