Valkyries Softball Falls To #14 Pfeiffer In Twinbill

MISENHEIMER, N.C. - The Converse Softball Team was unable to score against nationally-ranked Pfeiffer in Conference Carolinas action on Satuday falling 7-0 and 9-0(5) in the double-dip.

INSIDE THE BOXSCORES

Elizabeth Aguilar went 3-5 on the afternoon going 2-2 in the nightcap.  Ashton Coker, Anna Bennett, and Marissa Steadman picked up base hits.

HOW IT HAPPENED

Game One: Converse 0, Pfeiffer 7

Marissa Steadman started off the contest with a single up the middle but was later erased on a 6-4-3 double play to end the inning.

Kaybrianna Spalding allowed one run in the bottom of the first inning after the lead-off batter doubled.  She would come around to score on a sacrifice fly for the early 1-0 lead.

Pfeiffer would tack on another run in the bottom of the third, again on a sacrifice fly, to lead 2-0.

Elizabeth Aguilar singled to left with two outs in the top of the fourth inning.  Aguilar moved to second on a steal attempt but would be stranded in scoring position.

Two home runs and two errors in the bottom of the fourth inning allowed Pfeiffer to extend their lead to 6-0.

In the top of the sixth, Marissa Steadman was hit by a pitch and later moved to second on a wild pitch.  Steadman was stranded at second.

Pfeiffer added a solo shot in the bottom of the sixth inning and take game one 7-0.

Game Two: Converse 0, Pfeiffer 9 (five innings)

Converse was able to get things rolling to start off the nightcap.  Marissa Steadman reached on an error.  Elizabeth Aguilar sigled to right field putting runners on first and second but the rally ended with back-to-back punchouts.

The Falcons broke the scoreless tie in the bottom of the first on a single to left field for the 1-0 lead.  Converse would work out of a jam to limit the damage to just one.

Pfeiffer would extend their lead in the bottom of the second inning scoring six runs off five hits and a Converse error to move their advantage to 7-0.

Shelby Bullock led off the third inning with a walk but would switch places with Tristan Harvey on the fielder's choice.  Elizabeth Aguilar ripped a single to right center moving Harvey to third.  A groundout ended the rally.

Ashton Coker added a single in the top of the fourth inning and Anna Bennett singled in the fifth but the damage was done as Pfeiffer took the contest 9-0 in five innings.
