HOW IT HAPPENED
First Half

Belmont Abbey put pressure on the Valkyries defense during the early portion of the opening quarter, firing off a handful of shots, two of which required attention from the Purple and Gold keeper. Converse was presented an opportunity to score the game's first goal, but Linder's shot was saved by a Crusader defender, leaving the game in a scoreless tie after 15 minutes of play.

Linders would not be denied to start the second period as she took a penalty corner pass form Kiersten Bangit, blasting it past the Abbey keeper for the 1-0 lead. The rest of the period was uneventful and the Vals headed to the locker room leading by the single score.

Second Half

Belmont Abbey came back to knot the score at 1-1 just over five minutes into the second half following a goal from Angelina Perrone during a penalty corner.

The Valkyries were able to regain the lead early into the final period following another penalty corner. Bangit sent a hard ball across the face of the box, finding Linders, who in turn fed Bonaventura for her third goal of the season. A stellar defensive effort down the stretch allowed Converse to pull off the 2-1 win.
