HOW IT HAPPENED
First Half
Much of the first quarter went by with neither team able to do much offensively. However, Belmont Abbey was able strike first in the 9th minute following a goal from Camrynn Aiello. That lead doubled when Samantha Moore collected a goal at the 13:11 mark of the opening period.
Aiello was at it again in the second quarter, posting her second goal of the contest less than three minutes into the stanza. The Valkyries defense tightened up the remainder of the half and headed to the locker room trailing 3-0.
Second Half
That defense continued to hold the Crusaders off to begin the second half, but Aiello completed the hat trick in the 42nd minute, giving Abbey the 4-0 advantage.
Two goals by Maddie Mitchell in the fourth quarter tallied the final scoring for the Crusaders as they took the 6-0 win.
