  • Ciriaca Petitto recorded 13 saves in goal.
  • Newberry led 27-1 on shots and 16-1 on penalty corners.

HOW IT HAPPENED

First Half

Newberry was able to score first after Farai Kawonde took a pass from Haley Smith and found the back of the box in the fourth minute of play. The remainder of the first quarter was a stalemate as neither team could gain any offensive momentum.

The Wolves were able to double their lead at the 19:56 mark. Petitto did her best to keep the ball out of the goal, knocking away several shots before Kristyna Oyola's strike was able to sneak by the keeper, sending NC to the locker room leading by the two goals.

Second Half

After being shutout in the opening 30 minutes of action, Converse stormed back in the third quarter, cutting the deficit in half in the 37th minute. Following a penalty corner, Morgan Berndt sent a phenomenal pass into the box and Martinez blasted it past the Wolves keeper.

Unfortunately, that would be the only goal scored by Converse and Newberry added a late goal in the fourth quarter to take home the 3-1 win.
