HOW IT HAPPENED
First Half
Limestone was able to strike early after Kelly Diplock collected a rebound off of a previous shot in the fourth minute of action and snuck it past the Valkyrie keeper for the 1-0 lead. That lead doubled at the 9:50 mark of the opening quarter following a Riley DeGrace unassisted goal.
The Valkyries defense settled down after the Saints' second goal, not allowing Limestone to play much on the offensive end over the majority of the second quarter. However, just minutes before halftime, Thando Muchemenyi tacked on a score to send LC into the locker room leading by three.
Second Half
The third quarter was a defensive battle as neither team could gain any momentum on the positive side of the field. Converse had several opportunities to cut into the lead but were unable to do so, sending the game into the final period with the same score as halftime.
Converse was able to fire off a few shots in the final period, but unable to find the back of the box while Bellarmine added an additional goal with less than two minutes to play to win the contest by the score of 4-0.
