HOW IT HAPPENED

First Quarter

Converse came out solid in the opening period, putting pressure on the Trojans defense with a plethora of shots. Kiersten Bangit nearly missed putting the Vals ahead in the 7th minute but her shot glanced off the post. Linders collected the rebound, but her shot was saved by the Mount Olive keeper, sending the game to the second period scoreless.

Second Quarter

Mount Olive finally broke through late in the second period, collecting two goals in the last three minutes of the frame to take a 2-0 lead into the half.

Third Quarter

That lead ballooned to 3-0 just seconds into the second half after a penalty corner from the Trojans. Converse was finally able to break through at the 33:16 minute mark. Following a series of fouls, Yocklin positioned herself on the far post and took a brilliant pass from Martinez, sneaking it into the goal.

Fourth Quarter

The final period of play was a defensive stalemate as neither team could generate any offense and Mount Olive took home the 3-1 win.

UP NEXT

Converse will make the quick turnaround, heading back to the field tomorrow afternoon to face the Cobras of Coker College. That contest is scheduled to begin at noon.
