Field Hockey Drops Neutral Site Game to Molloy

GAFFNEY, S.C. – The Converse College (1-9) field hockey team was defeated 7-0 by Molloy (8-4) on Monday afternoon at Saints Field on the campus of Limestone College. The Lions scored twice in the first half followed by five times in the second to secure the neutral site win.

Flore Samsi led the Valkyries with five shots, while Kate Hollamby added two of her own. Bo Linders and Maddie Yocklin registered one shot each. Jacqueline Wadsley and Ciriaca Petitto split time in goal, collecting three and two saves, respectively.

Molloy scored in the 7th minute of play to take an early lead and doubled that advantage with a goal in the 23rd minute of action. The Lions carried that lead into the halftime break.

Following the brief hiatus, Molloy tacked on three goals in a matter of 10 minutes to open up a commanding 5-0 lead with less than 20 minutes left to play. Samsi did her best to put the Valkyries on the board, but her shot attempts were pushed away by the MC goalie, leaving the Vals scoreless.

A goal in the 63rd and 65th minutes ballooned the lead to what would be the final score of 7-0 in favor of the Lions.

Converse will be back in action on Wednesday, October 10 as it travels back to Gaffney to face Limestone in a South Atlantic Conference Carolinas match. That contest is scheduled to begin at 4 p.m.
