Gilbert Earns Reserve High Point Rider at Clemson University

CLEMSON, S.C. – The Converse College equestrian team took home a third place finish at the Clemson University Invite on Sunday afternoon, missing second place by a single point.

Elizabeth Gilbert was sensational during day two of the event, taking home first place in Open Equitation Over Fences and Intermediate Equitation on the Flat, which she also pointed out of and qualified for regionals. Gilbert was also the Reserve High Point Rider of the day. Chloe Butcher also earned a top finish in the event of Novice Equitation on the Flat.

Caroline Gilliam finished her weekend with a third-place finishes in Intermediate Equitation on the Flat as well as fifth in Novice Equitation Over Fences. Julia Williams tallied a pair of fourth place finishes in Intermediate Equitation Over Fences and Novice Equitation on the Flat.

Jennifer Matusik captured fourth during Novice Equitation on the Flat, while teammate Emma Jameson earned fifth in the event of Walk-Trot-Canter Equitation on the Flat.

The Valkyries will return to action on October 20-21, traveling to Columbia, S.C. to participate at the University of South Carolina.
