Valkyries Equestrian Competes At Lander

GREENWOOD, S.C. - The Converse Equestrian Team competed in their first show of the new year this past Saturday. The Valkyries placed seventh of eleven teams at the Intercollegiate Horse Show hosted by Lander University over the weekend.

Transfer, Maddie Wagner started the day off strong placing second in Intermediate Flat. Wagner also competed in Intermediate Over Fences. Senior, Jordan Raska placed fourth in Intermediate Flat. Raska placed fifth in Novice Fences.

Sophomore, Nicole Lidzbarski competed in Novice Flat. Freshmen, Julia Williams placed fourth in Novice Flat. Williams placed third in Novice Fences, while transfer, Corinne Flanary competed in Novice Flat.

Sophomore, Lauren Hooks placed third and Junior Captain, Addie Ledbetter placed sixth in their Novice Flat class consisting of ten riders. Hooks also competed in Novice Fences. Ledbetter placed fifth in Novice Fences.

Transfer, Josephine Grimmer placed fifth in Advanced Walk Trot Canter. Freshmen, Caroline Gilliam competed in Advanced Walk Trot Canter. Junior, Carson Rehn placed sixth in Advanced Walk Trot Canter. Junior, Katie Dixon placed fourth in Beginner Walk Trot Canter. Junior, Heather McCrary placed second in Beginner Walk Trot Canter. To round out the day, Freshmen, Jenny Matusik won beginner Talk Trot.

The team will travel to Georgia Southern for their next show to be held on February 6th, 2016.
