Equestrian Rounds Out Fall Competition At CofC

CHARLESTON, S.C. - The Converse Equestrian Team placed fifth of eleven teams at the Intercollegiate Horse Show hosted by College of Charleston over the weekend.  The team competes in IHSA Zone 5 Region 3 which is comprised of 11 colleges and universities including those such as Wofford, Clemson, Furman, and other schools in the SC/GA states.

Freshmen, Lauren Rockwell started off the day with a first place finish in Open Flat. Lauren also competed in Open Fences. Senior, Cecilia Pedersen competed in both Intermediate Flat and Fences. This was her last show with the Valkyries as she will be graduating in December. Other senior, Jordan Raska placed fourth in Intermediate Flat and she also competed in Novice Fences. 

Transfer, Madeline Wagner placed third of 13 in her Intermediate Fences class. Junior, Addie Ledbetter placed sixth of sixteen in her Novice Fences class and competed in Novice Flat. Transfer, Corinne Flanary compete in Novice Flat.

Freshmen, Julia Williams placed fourth in her Novice Flat class and won her Novice Fences class. Sophomore, Lauren Hooks competed in Novice Fences.

Freshmen, Caroline Gilliam and Junior, Carson Rehn both competed in Advanced Walk Trot Canter. Transfer, Josephine Grimmer sealed a third place finish in her Advanced Walk Trot Canter section.

Junior, Heather McCrary placed second in her Beginner Walk Trot Canter class and junior, Katie Dixon, placed fourth in her Beginner Walk Trot Canter section. To round out the day, freshmen, Jennifer Matusik placed third in her Walk Trot class.

This show rounded out the competitions for the Fall. The team will travel to Lander University for their next show to be held on January 30th, 2016.
