Even with the best pre-season preparation, the latest coaching methods and the most advanced protective equipment available, athletic injuries and illnesses may still occur. The Converse Sports Medicine team’s primary responsibility during athletic events is to care for the athletes—of both the home and visiting teams—participating in the game.
Converse athletic trainers, who are on-site for every contest, are certified by The National Athletic Trainers' Association Board of Certification Inc. and The South Carolina Department of Health and Environmental Control. They are trained to administer the following forms of treatment on-site:
- Ultrasound
- Electrical stimulation
- Therapeutic massage
- Hot and cold whirlpools
They also develop individual rehabilitation programs, and are responsible for maintaining the athletic training facilities.
