Converse Names Thompson As Director Of Compliance

SPARTANBURG, S.C. – Converse College Director of Athletics Jennifer Bell would like to welcome the addition of Halle Thompson as the new Director of Compliance for Valkyries athletics. Thompson comes to Converse after a successful stint as the Student-Athlete Success Coach and Compliance Intern at Coker College.

"I am extremely excited to have Halle join our administrative staff," announced Bell. "She brings a tremendous amount of energy and enthusiasm to our department, and I am confident she will be a perfect fit as our new Director of Compliance. I look forward to seeing her grow as an administrator, and even more so, how she works to enhance the student-athlete experience at Converse College."

While with the Cobras Thompson assisted in the compliance department by maintaining eligibility certifications for current and incoming student-athletes. She also was in charge of monitoring athletes' progress towards desired degree while processing NLIs (National Letter of Intent). Other duties included managing recruiting paperwork and countable athletically-related activities logs.

Halle played a major role in the development of freshmen and at-risk student-athletes on both academic and life skills. Thompson was also an advisor on Coker's Student Athlete Advisory Committee (SAAC). She helped guide them throughout the year, as they raised money for the Make-A-Wish Foundation and also assisted with the Senior Citizen Prom.

Along with her duties in compliance, Thompson also executed the role of administrator for special events such as the Community Easter Egg Hunt and Hoops4Hope Cancer Awareness Basketball Game as well as game-day administrator and facility operations.  Her time at Coker gave her the opportunity to be chosen for the Emerging Leaders Seminar at the NCAA Headquarters. She is also a member of the National Association of Collegiate Directors of Athletics (NACDA) and Minority Opportunities Athletic Association (MOAA).

Thompson is a graduate of the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill where she earned her undergraduate in Exercise and Sport Science with a concentration in Sports Administration. While at UNC Thompson gained pertinent experience working with the women's basketball team, serving as a team liaison, game-day and event manager, team travel coordinator, and team and elite individual summer camp instructor. Halle is currently working towards her Master of Science in College Athletic Administration at Coker College and plans to finish in October.

"I'm really excited to make this next step in my career at Converse," said Thompson. "I'll be entering into a full-time compliance role working with Jennifer Bell again after being her assistant recently at Coker College. I'm eager to show the staff and student-athletes what I have to offer, but most importantly, I'm ready to learn from them and watch us grow better together," she concluded.

A Kershaw, S.C. native, Thompson's family consists of her parents, Robert and Stephanie, siblings, Arlivia and Trey, and her dog, Zeke.
